Licensees Initially Licensed Before October 1, 2023

Total Required: 15 hours per renewal cycle.

Legal & Legislative Update (A): 3 hrs

Fair Housing (C): 2 hrs (note change effective 2025 — see below)

Ethics (D): 3 hrs

Principles of Brokerage Relationships & Disclosure (H): 3 hrs

Electives: 4 hrs


Commercial licensees have a similar structure (ADA topic instead of Fair Housing for some).

Licensees Initially Licensed On or After October 1, 2023

If this is your first renewal, you must complete

15-hour CE curriculum with specific mandatory topics:

Contracts (J) 3 hrs

Brokerage Relationships & Disclosure (H) 3 hrs

Principles of Real Estate Practice (L) 3 hrs

Property Management & Landlord/Tenant Laws (M) 3 hrs

Professionalism (N) 1.5 hrs

Real Estate Financing (O) 1.5 hrs

BROKERS AND DESIGNATED BRANCH OFFICE MANAGERS OR TEAM LEADERS

Broker, Office Manager or Team Leader

Total Required: 15 hours per renewal cycle.

Legal & Legislative: (A) 3 hrs

Fair Housing (C) or ADA (P) for Commercial: 2 hrs

Ethics: (D) 3 hrs

Brokerage Relationships & Disclosure: (H) 3 hrs

Supervision (I): 1.5 hrs

Electives: 2.5 hrs

REMINDERS:

  • Legislative topic (A), ethics topic (D), and agency topic (H) are required Maryland courses for all licensees.
  • Fair housing topic (C) is required for all licensees with a residential license.
  • Supervision topic (I) is required for all brokers, designated branch office managers and team leaders.
  • The ethics course must include MD Code of Ethics, Flipping and Predatory Lending.
  • NAR ethics is not a substitute for the Maryland required ethics course.
  • If you hold a license in another state, hours may be considered toward your Maryland ELECTIVES. To find out, email the out-of-state CE course completion certificate(s) to mrec@dllr.state.md.us at least 30 days prior to the expiration of your license. If recognized, the hours credited will be entered into your licensing record and an eNotice sent to your email address of record.
